Typical of most red-heads Lily has a temper to rival others. It takes a lot to set her off because she has a lot of patience, but when she's had enough she'll make sure you know it.

Fiercely loyal she will go to the ends of the earth for her friends and won't care if she ever comes back. Never quavering in her battle for the underdogs Lily would never let anyone push her around. She will fight for what she believes in tooth and nail because she believes it's the right thing to do even if no one else shares the same ideals. She's confident in who she is and has a 'take it or leave it' attitude.

Lily has always been known for her smarts. She always seems to be the head of her class, always the one with her hand raised in the air. She basks in the attention it brings her, but truly and simply loves to learn. She is always hungry for more, for the next thing to do which means she is a go getter, a leader. Never one to hide in the shadows she will step up to any task and tackle it to the ground. She was Slughorn's favorite student.

Years of being married to Severus Snape and being a Professor at Hogwarts have hardened Lily slightly. She is less likely to laugh at jokes or offer a helping hand, and even less likely to trust people at first. But it is usually easy for Lily to warm up to someone and show them her true self. She can be sarcastic, cynical and hard on others.

History:
Lily was born in January of 1960 at a quiet little hospital just outside Spinner's End, where her family lived. She was the second daughter of the Evans, and the youngest. Lily and her sister Petunia spent most of their childhood playing the games most little girls play, though Lily liked to be outside more than Petunia did and garnered more attention from the neighborhood boys.

Lily was very close to everyone in her family, but when her magical abilities started to show up around the age of eight, Petunia wasn't exactly sure how to react. She was torn between being jealous of her sister and being disgusted by the things her sister could do. Their relationship started to strain, especially when their parents started favoring Lily over Petunia in conversations. They were so proud, and so was Lily. She would tell Petunia that maybe her magical powers were just late.

When Lily was nine she met a dark haired boy named Severus Snape. They were the same age and it was Severus that first told Lily what she truly was; a witch. Lily took offense to this at first, but after speaking with the boy longer she realized that it was more of a compliment. There was an entire world that she didn't know about, and he was a part of it. Lily spent the next couple of months speaking to Severus every day after school about what it was like behind those magical walls. Neither one of them could wait until they were sent off to Hogwarts, and they spent many hours discussing what they thought the school would be like. Petunia became jealous of Lily's new relationship and felt replaced by the younger boy. She started spying on their conversations and it only cemented her want to go to Hogwarts with her sister.

After Lily turned eleven a letter from Hogwarts came addressed to her baring the evidence that Severus wasn't lying. There really was a school named Hogwarts and she was going there. Lily told Petunia that maybe if she wrote to the headmaster, she could come to school with her. A week later, just before Lily was about to leave for Diagon Alley to get her school things with her parents, Petunia received her reply from the headmaster. There was no room at Hogwarts for non-magical folk. Petunia was devastated and retorted by calling Lily a freak and refusing to speak to her. Lily was devastated by her sister's words, but was too proud and excited to give up her chance to go to Hogwarts. She left on the Hogwart's Express a few weeks later.

Lily immediately found Severus on the train and shared a compartment with him on the way to Hogwarts. They discussed which house they thought they would be sorted in. When the time came for the sorting Lily was first. She was immediately sorted into Gryffindor to much applause and she awaited Severus' fate, hoping he would join her at her house table. When Severus sat upon the stool, the sorting hat considered him, but then sorted him into Slytherin. Lily wasn't happy because she wanted to know at least one person in her house, but knew that they had the next seven years to continue their friendship.

Lily was eager to learn about everything and always showed up to her classes at least five minutes early. In her off time she would either spend it with the other Gryffindor girls, or with Severus on the grounds. If she wasn't with them then she was holed up in the Library catching up on what she thought she missed out on by growing up in a muggle household. In her second year she was given the opportunity to join the Slug Club because of her excellence in Potions, and Slughorn oftentimes referred to her being his favorite. By this time she had certainly noticed the Gryffindor boys in her year, but generally ignored them. She thought they were immature and up to no good. Their conversations were short, if they spoke at all.

In Lily's fifth year she was made Prefect with Remus Lupin and they grew rather close. Sometimes she would wonder why someone who seemed so polite and nice would hang out with bullies like Sirius and James, but she wasn't one to get involved, especially with that lot. Also in this year she found James bullying Severus and she grew so angry that she stood up for Severus, trying to get James to stop. This whip lashed upon her when Severus was so embarrassed by her having to stand up for them he called her a 'mudblood' in front of everyone and Lily gave up on their friendship, tired of always standing up for Severus and tired of him hanging out with his Death Eater friends. She stuck to her principles and refused to speak to him from that day forward. Also later in Lily's fifth year she was asked out by James, but Lily refused because of his arrogance. She gained several OWLs that year, including an O in Potions and Charms.

In Lily's seventh year she was made Head Girl, and began dating James Potter early on in the year. He had started to rub off on her, and the thing she once thought was arrogance really started to work for her as a certain type of charm. Still, she refused to let their dating get in the way of her studies or duties as Head Girl and she stuck to her guns. She graduated Hogwarts with several NEWTs, but was still undecided what she wanted to do as a career.

After graduating Lily and James started getting more serious. They were approached a few months after graduation join the Order of the Phoenix and both, along with Sirius, Remus and Peter were quick to join. Lily became pregnant at the end of 1979 much to her surprise. She wasn't ready to be a parent yet. Because James was so eager to have a child, and Lily was reluctant to do so this became a point of dissension in their relationship, but Lily didn't have much choice in the matter. She was already pregnant. James went so far as to propose to Lily and gave her promises of the perfect family and while the idea seemed lovely, she wasn't sure James was the person that could really give her that happily ever after. After deciding to keep the child and hold off on the marriage decision Lily turned to Severus for comfort. It had been over two years since they had a good, long conversation, but speaking to him felt natural and it wasn't long before Lily was head over heels in love with Severus.

At the end of 1980 Voldemort disappeared without a trace, much to the Order's surprise. Harry was born July 31st, 1980 and once Lily was fully recovered from his birth she broke the news about Severus to James. Lily wanted to take Harry with her to stay with Severus and raise him as her own, but James would have none of it. He was deeply hurt by Lily and eventually he got her to promise to leave Harry behind with him. She left when Harry was six months old.

Lily married Severus in a quiet ceremony just outside London in 1981 and they began trying for a family of their own. Greta was born in 1982 followed by Tiberius in 1983. Lily stayed in contact with both James and Harry and remained a large part of Harry's life, having him with her every other weekend.

When the children were old enough to be taken to child care Lily started studying to become a potions master, with Severus at her side. She achieved her goal in 1990 and applied for an open position at Hogwarts for a Potions Professor. She was hired and has worked there ever since.
